The Curious Geographer 131/3/25

The U.S. legal system is full of odd and outdated laws that somehow still exist. Here are some of the weirdest laws still on the books today!

🤠 No Ice Cream in Your Back Pocket (Alabama)

In Alabama, it’s illegal to put an ice cream cone in your back pocket. Why? Because horse thieves used to lure away horses by placing ice cream in their pockets, tricking the animals into following them!

🚗 It’s Illegal to Drive Blindfolded (Alabama, Again)

It seems like common sense, but Alabama actually has a law specifically stating that driving blindfolded is illegal. Who needed to be told this?!

🐘 You Need a Permit to Take a Lion to the Cinema (Maryland)

Maryland law technically states that you need a special permit to take a lion, tiger, or any wild animal into a cinema. Just in case you planned a fun night out with your pet lion.

🎵 No Singing Off-Key in North Carolina

In North Carolina, it’s illegal to sing off-key in public. If this law were actually enforced, karaoke nights would be very different!

🦄 Unicorn Hunting is Legal in Michigan

The state of Michigan is the only place in the world where you can legally hunt unicorns. It’s a joke law passed by Lake Superior State University, which even issues official Unicorn Hunting Licences!

These strange laws prove that America is a country full of quirky history, bizarre rules, and laws that somehow survived the test of time!
